— About the speaker

Conrad Wai is the CEO of Jump Ventures, which he co-founded to help startups and spinouts grow. Jump Ventures is an offshoot of Jump Associates, one of the world’s premier innovation strategy consultancies. While at Jump, he has also led strategic client engagements to create new business platforms in a variety of industries, from consumer electronics to automotive. He has spoken at conferences like Persuasive Technology and Designing for User Experience, and has written for publications such as Fast Company, the Design Management Review, and The Economist. Conrad has a Master’s degree from Stanford University in Human-Computer Interaction, and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Stanford.

— About the talk

Currently, the practice of strategy is based on the rigorous analysis of a multitude of historical data. We break down complicated situations into quantitative models. We then use these models to predict the future and create a course of action. That works well for certain problems. But increasingly, these are not the most pressing problems we face. Today’s big, strategic problems are ambiguous, interconnected, and chaotic. Strategy needs to adapt to these new realities. Here, Conrad will propose a new model for strategy that’s fit for today’s world.
